Colleen Travel Tours was founded by Colleen Joyce, a generational tourism provider whose roots in Irish hospitality stretch back centuries.

Born and raised in Connemara, the heart of Galway tourism, Colleen’s passion for showing the beauty of Ireland began at a young age. Her grandparents operated a renowned craft shop in Recess, a must-visit stop for travellers, and it remains a cherished family business today.

A former student of Kylemore Abbey, Colleen spent her school breaks sharing the wonders of the Abbey’s landscape with visitors, igniting her lifelong love of guiding. Standing on the iconic bridge at Kylemore Abbey, she often dreamed of leading tours back to this very place. With the encouragement of a remarkable sister from Kylemore Abbey, Colleen pursued that dream and has now been in the tourism industry for over 20 years.

Colleen’s dedication to preserving Ireland’s natural beauty led her to study Tourism and Eco-tourism, allowing her to showcase the Wild Atlantic Way while promoting sustainability.

Her mission is simple: to offer guests an authentic Irish experience, filled with hidden gems, local stories, and the rich heritage of her homeland, all while protecting it for future generations.

 Verified This tour was fantastic. We were a group of three, and the only ones on this particular day's tour, so the experience amounted to a private showing. Our guide and driver, Colleen, was charming and amusing, and she provided a ton of personal perspectives and insights on local history. The highlight for us was Aughnanure Castle, which had been constructed by the O'Flaherty clan back in the day; the O'Flahertys happen to be my wife's ancestors on her father's side. We learned that the Ferocious O'Flahertys were widely regarded as thieves and murderers during their heyday, but they were also clever and resourceful. Kylemore Abbey was also worth visiting, with a rich and diverse history. The countryside through which we drove is spectacular. The cost of the tour is a bit pricey, but the experience is definitely worth the expense.

One operator wanted to charge me 650 euros!  Colleen's rate was totally reasonable and we chatted the whole way while my teen son slept in the back.  She was incredibly considerate, full of interesting Irish facts and just so kind.  I cannot recommend her highly enough.

Colleen was such an amazing tour guide on our private tour to the Cliffs of Moher and the Burren. She picked us up from Shannon airport and we stopped at historical sights, points of interest, and yummy treat shops along the way. She shared her wealth of knowledge about Ireland with us throughout the journey.

Colleen also was kind enough to help us plan our following days in the west of Ireland. She gave us tips on weather, travel arrangements to the Aran Islands, and must sees in the Galway area. Not to mention she connected us with tour guides in the Aran Islands in case we needed assistance once we arrived.

She made our trip to ireland a totally carefree experience that we will never forget! We would not have been able to do it without her.

Colleen is an excellent, knowledgeable tour guide (and driver!) who filled us in on lot of local history and lore, and was happy to answer any and all questions. Informative and fluid pickup and dropoff points. Ferry is big and smooth on larger waves. Island guide Mike was funny and educational on the Aran history. Seeing the Cliffs of Moher from ferry view a perfect way to leave islands.

We had an incredible time on our tour. The guide was so knowledgable and entertaining. She knows the area so well and it is clear that she has a strong relationship with the people who live in the areas we visited and the other travel professionals we met along the way.
