Discover Wild Atlantic Places
unforgettable west coast!
I've been exploring this corner of Ireland my whole life, and it still takes my breath away.
Here are the places I love most, those I love sharing with visitors. Colleen x
Galway - The Beating Heart of the West
Galway is one of Ireland’s most vibrant and colourful cities, a place where medieval laneways open onto lively pubs, street musicians fill the air, and the Spanish Arch watches over the River Corrib.
Wander Shop Street, explore the Latin Quarter, or grab a coffee and watch the world go by. Galway never gets old. The city is also famous for its festivals, including the world renowned Galway International Arts Festival and the Galway Races, which draw visitors from across the globe every year.
Try our Galway City Walking Tour to discover its hidden stories.
Connemara - Wild, Beautiful, Like Nowhere Else
Connemara - Wild, Beautiful, Like Nowhere Else
Connemara is the Ireland of your imagination made real, sweeping bogs, rugged mountains, glittering loughs, and stone walls stretching to the horizon.
This is Gaeltacht country, where Irish is still spoken as a first language and the landscape feels truly ancient. Take your time here. It deserves it.
Keep an eye out for the iconic Connemara pony, a native breed that has roamed these landscapes for centuries and remains a proud symbol of the region.
Explore it on our Castles of Connemara Tour.
Kylemore Abbey - A Gothic Dream in the Heart of Connemara
Nestled beside a lake with mountains behind it, Kylemore Abbey is one of Ireland’s most photographed and romantic landmarks.
Built in the 19th century as a love gift from a wealthy merchant to his wife, it’s now home to a Benedictine community.
The walled Victorian garden alone is worth the visit. Inside, you can explore the beautifully restored rooms and learn the fascinating story of the Mitchell Henry family and the Benedictine nuns who have called it home since 1920.

The Cliffs of Moher - Ireland's Most Iconic Natural Wonder
The Cliffs of Moher - Ireland's Most Iconic Natural Wonder
Rising over 200 metres above the crashing Atlantic, the Cliffs of Moher are breathtaking in every sense of the word.
Best experienced on a clear day, or dramatically on a misty one, they stretch for 14km along the Clare coastline and offer views all the way to the Aran Islands on a fine day.
Home to one of Ireland’s largest seabird colonies, the cliffs are a haven for puffins, razorbills, and guillemots, making them a delight for nature lovers as well as sightseers.
See them from land and sea on our Aran Islands Day Tour & Cliffs of Moher Cruise.
The Aran Islands - Step Back in Time
Just a ferry ride from Galway, the three Aran Islands — Inis Mór, Inis Meáin, and Inis Oírr — feel like a world apart.
Ancient stone forts, patchwork fields, cycling paths, and a fierce Atlantic coastline greet you. This is traditional Irish culture at its most authentic and unspoiled.
Dún Aonghasa, the prehistoric cliff-top fort on Inis Mór, is one of the most dramatic archaeological sites in all of Europe and simply not to be missed.

The Burren - A Lunar Landscape with a Wildflower Secret
The Burren - A Lunar Landscape with a Wildflower Secret
The Burren in County Clare is one of Europe’s most unusual landscapes – a vast limestone plateau that looks stark at first glance, but hides an extraordinary array of wildflowers in the cracks and crevices.
In spring it blooms with orchids and rare plants that shouldn’t exist side by side, but do here. The Burren is also rich in ancient history, scattered with dolmens, ringforts, and holy wells that tell the story of thousands of years of human life on this remarkable terrain.

The Wild Atlantic Way - One of the World's Greatest Coastal Routes
Running 2,500km from Donegal to Cork, the Wild Atlantic Way passes right through Colleen’s backyard.
From Galway you’re perfectly placed to explore some of its most dramatic stretches – jagged headlands, hidden beaches, clifftop views, and charming harbour towns all within easy reach.
Named one of the world’s greatest road trips, it’s a journey that rewards those who take it slowly, stopping often and letting the landscape sink in.
